The MGMr in based on part of the Mont-Joli-Matane Stub of the Canadian National's Atlantic Subdivision at the western end of the Gaspé peninsula from Mont-Joli to Matane. Once, this leg of track belonged to the Canada & Gulf Terminal which laid tracks from Mont-Joli (then called Ste-Flavie Station) to Matane. The CG&T was to lay more tracks eastward to Gaspé but never did; thus the name Mont-joli - Gulf - Matane railway. On my layout, I'm offering the CN an interchange point in Mont-Joli to serve the rail ferry (COGEMA) from Matane to Baie-Comeau and the northern part of Quebec (mines and stuff), the now very important ocean port of Gaspé (intermodal and container traffic, bulk and stuff) and in between serving the copper mine of Murdochville (more mine stuff). Through all that "stuff", there are people taking the train for business, pleasure and, of course, for the fun of it. But that's all in my layout's history...
