The A&L is a ficitional shortline, running goods and some passenger service in the mid 1950's to 1965. It runs were the B&O won't. The A&L leases three steam engines 2-8-0's from the B&O and has one GP-9 and a small diesal switcher that the A&L has bought. The GP-9 is black and white with a white A&L logo, the switcher still wears the B&O name and colors. The primary customer was the coal mines, however the coal is drying up. Now there are several companies, logging industries and a small port on the Ohio river that relies on the A&L.
