Operating Shay!

Get ready to move logs, ore and other heavy loads in style behind this detailed replica of the classic Shay steam loco.

A favorite with mining, logging and construction railroads, the go-anywhere, haul-anything Shay was designed to handle rough track.

This HO Scale model is based on the 80-Ton Three-Truck locos that had a small tender and comes fully assembled and ready for service.

Superbly detailed, the models feature either a steel or wood cab to match the prototype, which comes with interior details.

A variety of separate details, including sanding lines, bell, whistle, pop valves, cut levers and hand rails are installed on every model.

In addition, the cab, stack and domes are applied separately to simplify customizing.

The models are powered by a can motor that runs a state-of-the-art, precision balanced flywheel drive.

All of the drivetrain is hidden for added realism, but the piston rods and valve gear on the side of the loco move as it moves!

Metal motor bearings and an operating headlight are standard, and the locos are DCC-Ready

The models feature a detailed underframe and all wheels are blackened and have RP25 contours

The tender also features blackened wheels that provide additional electrical pickup.
