Operation is as simple as 1-2-3: 1 - Push in the plunger until it latches. 2 - Heat the solder. 3 - Aim the tip at the solder and press the plunger release button. The spring-loaded plunger creates a powerful vacuum that instantly draws the solder out of the joint and into the barrel of the tool.
