Pennsylvania Class R50B Express Reefer
(Summer 1945 Scheme)
Pennsylvania Railroad
The Fridge That Beat The Japs!
In 1929, the Pennsylvania rolled-out 550 all-new class R50B Express Refrigerator cars. In service, R50Bs were part of the Railway Express Agency (REA) pool, travelling all over the U.S. in both passenger and freight service until 1968. Fully assembled and ready for service, the HO models come equipped with accurate 2D-P5 four-wheel trucks featuring metal sideframes with plastic details, and blackened 36" metal wheelsets. A separate roofwalk, door latch bars and ladders are factory-installed for added realism. For those modelers wishing to further detail their cars, a complete set of preformed wire grab irons is provided, while molded starter points on the body simplify drilling and installation. This car is based on the very short-lived scheme used on cars serviced between June and August of 1945. Features:
- Medium Tuscan Red body
- Black roof, trucks and underbody
- Buff lettering
