Railroad Tug Boat
Have Ye Ever Been To Sea, Billy?
Once a common sight on big city harbors, the Railroad Tug was a specialized version of the familiar tug boat. In order to improve visibility over freight cars on the deck of a carfloat, the Railroad Tug was built with a taller pilot house. Starting in the 1920s, many railroads began modernizing their fleets with diesel-electric tugs. Not only did they use similar technology to the then-new diesel locomotives, many were painted in the same colorful schemes. These newer tugs remained in service for years, with a few serving new owners yet today. Ready to handle chores in any busy HO harbor, Walthers Railroad Tug Boat builds into a detailed replica of the later diesel-electric designs. It features the tall pilot house, along with various roof details, towing bitts, masts and a host of other details. The kit builds into a waterline model with no lower hull detail, so it's easy to add to your new or existing scenery.
